Taking part is straightforward:
- Shoot some footage or photography as suggested by this site;
- Register on this site and detail your submission;
- Send us your footage using your NOW! label.
You can log in again and submit as much footage as you wish and
keep track of what has been submitted already. |
How to get involved
Becoming part of the NOW! project is almost as simple as contributing
footage to the One World TV website, with one small difference: we will
need hard copies (tapes) of footage as opposed to the digital files that
you upload to the One World site.
There is a very good reason for this, in that in order to produce a film
of sufficient quality to project onto large digital screens in cinemas
and festivals we will need the highest quality resolution footage we can
get.
All you need to do is go out and shoot some footage; register with us
online; and send us your tapes marked with your NOW! label (as issued by
us when you complete a Submission Form) we will give you a page of information
to print out and send along with your tape - PLEASE DO NOT SEND TAPES
WITHOUT FIRST COMPLETING A SUBMISSIONS FORM ONLINE!
However, although our preference is to simply be sent hard copy, there
is also the option of sending us a preview of your work by uploading some
samples to this site. You might choose to do this before sending us hard
copies if the cost of sending tapes is daunting for you. To do this you
must also register with us online first.
MiniDV will be our main format though we can handle other DV formats.
But if you have incredible footage on other formats, we still want to
see it!
The Process
What we will do with your footage:
As tapes arrive we will preview your footage and label your clips in
your name as they are digitised. As we build up the library of footage
we will start to draw out emerging themes and ideas. We aim to post clips
up on a ‘preview’ section of this site so that participating
film-makers can comment on trial sequences of film. As strong themes emerge
from contributed footage we can feed this back through the website and
encourage you to film additional footage to build on these themes; Stories
or themes will thereby be co-created by multiple contributors, in a process
similar to, or inspired by that pioneered by One World TV. We can't know
exactly how this will work - it will be an exploration of what open, collaborative
cinema could be!
When we achieve our final cut of NOW! all participating film-makers
in the project will be contacted via email to inform them whether their
footage has been incorporated into the film. Those film-makers that have
been successful in achieving this will then become eligible for possible
profit-sharing under the rules laid out in the Terms and Conditions.
